Kraken Prop rules, explained exactly

Every rule below comes from Kraken's own support articles, linked and dated. Kraken publishes more detail than most crypto prop firms — and one cost that most traders forget.

The cost most traders forget

“My daily limit only counts losing trades.”

Kraken Prop counts realized losses, open losses, commissions (0.04% per side) and margin funding (0.033% per day, charged every 4 hours) against the same 3% daily limit — and resets it at 00:30 UTC, not midnight.

A $100,000 position held for a day costs about $33 in funding alone, every day, before the price moves. Kraken's own example:

Balance at 00:30 UTC$100,000all plans: 3%
Daily limit$3,000recalculated daily
Breach at$97,000equity, no warning

Hedging across accountsOpposite positions across your own accounts — including correlated assets — are prohibited. Penalty: closure of ALL your accounts. Checked when you request a payout.FAQ + contractBreakout FAQ, incorporated into the Funded Trader Agreement via §5(z)

Things traders miss

A hedge can cost every account.

Opposite positions across your accounts, even in correlated coins, close all of them — and it is checked at payout, after you have done the work.

00:30, not 00:00.

If your bot or spreadsheet resets at midnight, it gives you 30 minutes of room that doesn't exist — and takes it away for the first 30 minutes of the real day.

Holding is not free.

Funding is charged every 4 hours whether you are long or short. A multi-day hold slowly eats the daily limit even if the price stands still.

Lite's floor only rises on closed profit.

Open profit doesn't lift it, but open losses still breach it. And it only moves once a day, at 00:30 UTC.
